Software QA Engineer

ProFound Staffing is partnering with a Software Company in the Greenspoint area of Houston, Texas that’s hiring a software QA Engineer with experience in manual testing.   Candidate will be responsible for developing, implementing, and executing testing strategies to ensure that applications meet functional requirements and quality standards. These testing strategies will include manual test cases and exploratory testing.  Candidate will work on a workflow web application for a manufacture product to help them increase output and manage the flow of orders through the plant.

This candidate will work closely with software development teams throughout the entire software development lifecycle to locate and record defects.

Education:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or equivalent

Technical & Functional Skills:

• Experience: 2-3 years of professional experience in Quality Assurance.
• QA Methodologies: Proficiency with test management software, specifically Azure DevOps, and robust understanding of QA processes and methodologies.
• Technical Skills: Working knowledge of SQL Server and T-SQL for database validation and verification.
• Troubleshooting: Proven ability to systematically troubleshoot, document, and resolve defects.
• Detail Orientation: Demonstrated thoroughness and attention to detail in testing activities.

Responsibilities:

• Testing Strategy: Develop, implement, and execute comprehensive testing strategies aligned with project requirements and quality benchmarks.
• Test Case Development: Create and perform manual, exploratory, and regression test cases to validate software functionality.
• Integration Testing: Perform integration testing using tools such as Postman to ensure seamless interaction between system components.
• Defect Management: Identify, document, track, and communicate defects clearly and effectively.
• Collaboration: Work collaboratively with development teams in troubleshooting, triaging, and resolving issues, ensuring timely root-cause analysis.
• Agile Participation: Actively engage in Agile ceremonies such as sprint planning, daily stand-ups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives, contributing to iterative development and continuous improvement.

Soft Skills:

• Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, critical for effective collaboration and cross-functional communication in an Agile environment.
• Self-Motivation: Proven ability to work independently and proactively with minimal supervision.
• Time Management: Strong ability to multitask and effectively manage time and priorities.

Work Environment:

The work environment is business casual.  There are approximately 15 people on the team to include software development, sales and administration.

Hybrid Position:

• Hybrid work schedule – work onsite on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday
• Onsite, the candidate will work in a cubicle setting.
